New River Channelization
The channelization of the New River consisted of the design and construction of 3.5-miles of soil cement lined channel from Olive Avenue south to Bethany Home Road. Work included design of bridge crossings at Olive, Northern and Glendale Avenues. Scour and sediment analysis was conducted at bridges and the full length of the channel. Work included all bridge grade control details, interior storm drainage systems and the Bethany Home outfall channel. The design included a detailed hydrologic, hydraulic and sediment analysis of the river system, leading to the establishment of channel alignment and grade. The project included preparation of revised floodplain mapping for submittal to FEMA for a CLOMR.
