Huitt-Zollars Welcomes Katherine Mears, PE, ENV SP as Vice President in Houston West Office

We are pleased to announce Katherine Mears, PE, ENV SP, has joined Huitt-Zollars as a Vice President in our Houston West office. In this role, Katherine will focus on leading and growing our public works practice in Southeast Texas. Katherine brings a diverse background of 25 years of project experience in water, wastewater, drainage, roadways, sidewalks, bikeways, traffic signals, and environmental documentation with clients ranging from municipalities, counties, and state agencies to utility districts. Her previous roles have focused on business development and leadership of both engineering and marketing teams.

Katherine earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and is a licensed engineer in Texas with an Envision Sustainability Professional Certification (ENV SP) from the Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure. Katherine is very active in the local community and with a number of professional associations. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for ACEC Houston and previously served as Programs Committee Chair. Katherine is also an APWA Officer and is the Southeast Branch Programs Chair in addition to being on the Southeast Branch Scholarship and Texas Chapter Awards Committees. Appointed by the City of Houston, Katherine serves as President of the Board of Directors for the Houston Employee Relief Organization (HERO). She also serves as a Board Member on the Houston-Galveston Subsidence District (HGSD) Board of Directors and on the HGSD Administrative, Rules, and Science and Research Committees.

Additionally, Katherine has received a number of prestigious accolades which include APWA Southeast Branch Tom Rolen Outstanding Service Award (2018), APWA Southeast Branch President’s Award (2017), SMPS Rising Star Award (2014), APWA Southeast Young Leader of the Year (2009), APWA Texas Chapter John Roark Young Leader Award (2008), and SAME Houston/Galveston Post Young Member of the Year (2005).
