Central and Unser Transit Center Expansion

In anticipation of Albuquerque’s Bus Rapid Transit system rollout, Huitt-Zollars worked with ABQ Ride to upgrade various components of the transit infrastructure. Located adjacent to the City’s new Central and Unser Library, the existing facility was expanded to provide dedicated platforms for the new bus fleet that facilitates rapid passenger embarkation/disembarkation movements. Additional conventional bus berths were provided to address peak-time congestion and to maintain adequate headway for the buses.

Artesia Aquatic Center

In June 2017, the Artesia Aquatic Foundation selected the Huitt-Zollars design and planning team to provide architectural and engineering design for their new family aquatic center and high school competition pool. The project emerges from a collaboration between the City of Artesia, Artesia Public Schools, and the AAC Foundation.

High Range Subdivision

This single-family development consists of 582 lots within approximately 130 acres. The project redeveloped existing one-acre residential lots into R-1 and R-4 single-family lots over four separate phases. The development included the design and construction of a seven-acre park and more than a mile of offsite sanitary sewer main.

Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) Headquarters and Police Station

Huitt-Zollars served as the prime design consultant for the Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) Headquarters and Police Station at White Sands Missile Range. The facility serves as a base of operations for DES law enforcement activities and administrative offices. The building was designed to comply with the requirements of USACE Engineering Construction Bulletin 2010-14, which mandates a 40% savings in energy use. Solar-water heating and photovoltaic panels were incorporated into the design.

Louisiana Gibson Regional Drainage Facility

Huitt-Zollars was selected by AMAFCA to design a regional storm-drainage detention facility at the Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB) property. During the design process of the regional stormwater detention facility, the Air Force informed AMAFCA that the Gibson access gate into KAFB was becoming a security threat to KAFB because of repetitive “gate crashers," mainly due to the straight approach of Gibson to the security checkpoint. The Air Force requested assistance from AMAFCA to redesign the Gibson Gate entrance to KAFB.

Roswell Recreation and Aquatic Center

In February 2016, the City of Roswell hired Huitt-Zollars to provide design services for a new recreation center. The City of Roswell Recreation and Aquatics Center project includes an approximately 40,800-square-foot recreation center with one gymnasium area that has two full courts, four half-cross courts, and two volleyball courts with additional and telescoping bleacher seating. The two full courts and cross courts are separated by divider curtains. The recreation center also has a group fitness room and a multi-purpose room for arts and crafts, meetings, etc.

Zuni Home Health Care Agency

The approximately 5,000 square-foot Home Health Care Agency of the Pueblo of Zuni sits on 1.52 acres and administers various health care services for the residents of the Pueblo. The new facility replaced the existing building that was no longer able to provide quality services to the residents and not a suitable work environment for the professional services offered by the Home Health Care staff. The building provides staff offices, a training room/employee lounge, equipment cleaning, services and storage for medical supplies.

Zuni Wellness Center

More than just a fitness facility, the 20,800 square-foot Zuni Wellness Center was designed to serve the community with a place to gather for nutritional counseling, diabetes and general health classes, as well as working out and fitness activities. The Center was built in two phases.
